The first day of school started with our Preschool 101 orientation with families.  Families met the preschool staff and were orientated about classroom procedures, teaching and communication strategies, transportation, and services that are provided to our preschoolers with autism.   Students are participating in monthly literacy, seasonal concepts, and art related to the literacy.  Children’s books included:   September – Big Red Barn, October – The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything,  November – Napping House,  and December – Christmas, Christmas, What Do You See?  Students have had the opportunity to explore our new “Explore Some More” motor room.  In October, our occupational therapy intern created a Halloween themed obstacle course that was a real hit with our students.  Also, students dressed up in costume and went trick or treating in the school.   Families and outside therapy providers have taken the opportunity to observe therapy in the Butterfly room and participated in parent teacher conferences.  Students had the opportunity to visit Santa in December and watch, The Snowman with Mr. Green.
