Good morning Roosevelt Families,

As you know, the temperatures at school the past few days have been really warm.  A big thank you to parents for sending their children to school dressed for the weather (please refer to September 21 eblast).  Also the Roosevelt PTA provided a popsicle treat on Friday to help beat the heat as well.  It looks like a few more days of warm temperatures are still in the forecast before a cool down begins.

Last Friday, boys and girls met in the gym to review Respect In Action.  It was great to hear from boys and girls how they show RESPECT throughout the school day.  While we teach, practice and review all character elements throughout the year, we emphasize a different element each month.  We have focused on RESPECT during the month of September.  Starting on October 6 we will wrap up RESPECT and focus on CONFIDENCE during the month of October.    Visit Building A Community With Characterfor details regarding our school districts focus on character education.

This week, boys and girls in grades k-4 will complete their fall assessments in the computer lab and in their classrooms.  Our staff has begun the process of studying that assessment data to determine what our next steps are in regards to intervention and enrichment for our students.

If you think your family may qualify for free or reduced breakfast and lunch, you should consider filling out an application online at Food Service Application.  We are approaching the time frame where families must reapply as well if they received federal food benefits last year.

Open House is this Wednesday, September 27 at 6:00 p.m.  Parents and students will have about 30 minutes to walk around Roosevelt, visit their teacher(s), and show their parents their classroom.

The Roosevelt Color Run is taking place immediately after Open House at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 27, 2017.  All participants will meet on the back playground.  This is the main fundraiser for the school year!  We are still in need of volunteers.  Please visit to sign up to help.

As you know, the Roosevelt PTA supports our boys and girls by offsetting costs of field trips for all students, supporting technology in the classroom, purchasing literacy materials such as leveled books, RAZ KIDS, and much, much more (did I mention popsicles on hot days?).

The two biggest ways you can support the Roosevelt PTA this year is joining the PTA and raising funds for the Color Run.  Please see attachment for the PTA Color Run.  Last year was so much fun!  Thank you for your support and let us meet our goal of raising $50 per family.

The classroom that has the highest PTA membership percentage at the end of September will receive an ice cream sundae party to celebrate.  Any class that has over 90% PTA membership is eligible for class popsicles.  Currently Mrs. Kozan's class is in the lead at 33% with Mrs. Lectka and Mrs. Werner's class close behind. The link for the PTA membership can be found at PTA Membership.

Roosevelt Spirit Wear is up and running.  Visit to place your order and show your school spirit.
