Good morning Roosevelt Families,

Last week at Roosevelt our boys and girls did a nice job during our various safety drills.  Staff will continue to practice these drills throughout the school year.  Schools are safe places and we work with local law enforcement and your children to ensure they stay that way. Your child's safety is our top priority!

This week, boys and girls in grades k-4 will continue to take a variety of assessments in the computer lab and in their classrooms.  When these assessments are completed, I will notify the community what our next steps are in regards to intervention and enrichment for our students.

Preschoolers in our ASD program are working really hard about learning their classroom routines.  Not only are they adorable, but they also bring a positive energy to our school that all Roosevelt staff and k-4 students appreciate.  The September calendar is attached for preschool.

As you have noticed from recent emails, there have been several changes this year to our district's free and reduced application and cafeteria payment process.  This week the school district emailed to parents reminders about charging lunches.  Please see attached.

Open House is Wednesday, September 27 at 6:00 p.m.  Parents and students will have about 30 minutes to walk around Roosevelt, visit their teacher(s), and show their parents their classroom.  Please note the PTA Color Run is taking place immediately after Open House at 6:30 p.m.on Wednesday, September 27, 2017.  All participants will meet on the back playground.  This is the main fundraiser for the school year!

As you know, the Roosevelt PTA supports our boys and girls by offsetting costs of field trips, supporting technology in the classroom, purchasing literacy materials such as leveled books, RAZ KIDS, and much, much more.  The two biggest ways you can support the Roosevelt PTA this year is joining the PTA and raising funds for the Color Run.  Please see attachments for the PTA Color Run and Membership information.  Last year was so much fun!  Thank you for your support and let us meet our goal of raising $50 per child.

The classroom that has the highest PTA membership percentage at the end of September will receive an ice cream sundae party to celebrate.  Any class that has over 90% PTA membership is eligible for class popsicles.

Not sure what to do when your child is absent or you need to check them out early?  Please visit to learn more about our attendance procedures.

Roosevelt Spirit Wear is up and running.  Visit to place your order and show your school spirit.

Take a look below to see what is taking place this week at Roosevelt Elementary School.

Monday, September 18, 2017

·      PICTURE DAY for grades k-4.  Please see attached Picture Day Information.   Have you considered ordering online?  We do this for our own children and it is really easy.  All you need is the school code, which for Roosevelt is LM747173Y0.

·      CONSTITUTION DAY will be recognized this Monday.

o   This Monday, public schools recognize Constitution Day by conducting a special Constitution/US Government activity in their classrooms.  Please visit for additional information on the United States Constitution.  As a reminder, we invite children to recite the Pledge of Allegiance daily at Roosevelt Elementary School.

Thursday, September 21, 2017

o   Prior to school on this day, staff will be unavailable to meet with parents.  Staff has school based professional development prior to school.  My suggestion is to email them with any questions and they will get back to you as soon as possible. Of course, Mrs. Pac will be available in the office to answer any questions. In addition, preschool staff will be unavailable after school on Thursday, September 21 as well due to their professional development.

September 25:  PTA planning meeting at 6:30 p.m. for Halloween Bash.  Please join the PTA board in planning for this event.

September 27:  PTA Color Run and Open House.  See attached flier.

September 28:  Principal birthday lunch for children born in August and September.

COMING SOON: Parent-Teacher conference sign-up via the Internet will begin next week.

Feel out of the loop?  If so please review these weekly email blasts, visit our website and contact your child's teacher if you have any questions.  Schools are busy places and we work hard to keep you informed.  Please visit the Roosevelt website for complete calendar information.

Have a nice week!

Mr. Green
