Welcome back to school Roosevelt Tigers!

As we approach our return to school, here are the updates for the week of January 8, 2018.  I hope your vacation time was enjoyable and we look forward to a wonderful 2018 with your children.

Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right. Oprah Winfrey

CLAY CLUB

A big thanks to Mrs. Werner and Mrs. Connors for leading CLAY CLUB the past six weeks.  We hope to create additional enrichment opportunities for our boys and girls in the upcoming months.

FLOOR HOCKEY

It's time to reserve your spot for the 2018 Roosevelt Floor Hockey line up!  Roosevelt Floor Hockey is a long-standing tradition of fun for boys and girls of all ages.  The season runs 6 weeks, starting January 24th thru March 1st.  Your child will attend either a Wednesday or Thursday Session.  Please sign up for the day of the week that works best for you.  Teams will be arranged by ages, typically K, 1st, 2nd and 3rd, 4th.

If there are enough players, there will be two sessions each night, Wednesday & Thursday:

6:00 - 6:50 for K, 1st, 2nd

7:00 - 7:50 for 3rd, 4th

Please return the attached form with your payment of $15 in cash or check (made out to Roosevelt PTA) by Wednesday, January 10.  The $15.00 entry fee includes an award and party at the end of the session.  You will receive an email with your assigned day and time the week of January 15th.

Questions?   Contact Michelle Kees at mkees@umich.edu or 734/658-9013.  A special thanks to Mrs. Kees for continuing her leadership with Floor Hockey.

i-READY and RAZ KIDS

Vacation i-Ready usage did not meet my expectations.  As you know a majority of the time students use i-Ready happens during the school day.  However it appeared on vacation other options were of more importance.  I will have staff review RAZ KIDS usage this week.   As a parent, I understand that sometimes at home reading is hard to fit in.  We will use this vacation data to help us measure how much we can rely on home support for i-Ready instructional usage.

PIZZA KITS

Please consider supporting our PIZZA KIT sale.  See attached note and remember not only are they YUMMY (Cookie Dough too), but they also are fun to make.  Hard copies with order forms also went home.

SNOW

The frigid temperatures may be back or they may give us a break for awhile.  Nonetheless please ensure your children are dressed for the weather.   Please know that children who don't have boots, coat, gloves/mittens, and snow pants are discouraged from playing in the snow.  Sitting in wet clothes all day isn't fun!

TOYS FOR TOTS

The Roosevelt Community donated over 100 toys to less fortunate children of our community during the hosting of the 2017 Goodfellows' Toy Collection. Thank you to those who were able to help the children experience the joy of Christmas through a new toy.  What a wonderful way for the children to celebrate Christmas and begin a new year!  Thanks again to Mrs. Martz for heading up our extra curricular community outreach.
