Good morning Roosevelt Families,

Three busy weeks left of school prior to Winter/Holiday break!  As I mention to children often during morning announcements, this time of year is just as important for learning as other times of the year.   We can be distracted with many fun, yet sometimes overwhelming to do lists for the holiday season. We look forward to our break but we must continue to keep focus on our goals and objectives.   This time of year can be overwhelming and often bring forth many different emotions for you as well.  Parents please don't hesitate to contact our office with questions.   Take a peek at this helpful link from the Center For Disease Control on Holiday Health and Safety.

The attached survey was shared by one of the professional organizations in which I have a membership. Sometimes we can get lost in all the details of our profession, but let us keep focus on the purpose of public schools.  I found this table well aligned with our school district's mission statement: To educate, challenge, and inspire every student to achieve personal success, and become a confident contributor to society.

Friday was a day off for students.  As a reminder, i-Ready students should visit their instruction portal today and complete some lessons to make up for their day off. Please contact your child's teacher if you have any i-READY questions.

Roosevelt is hosting a Livonia Goodfellows' toy collection through December 18, 2017. The Livonia Goodfellows, Inc. is a non-profit organization that provides Christmas gifts for children of need in our community. Please send a new, unwrapped toy to school by Monday, December 18th if you would like to donate a toy. The toys will be distributed to less fortunate children of the community by Christmas.  Your support is greatly appreciated!

The LPS Foundation recently awarded three Roosevelt teachers grants based on applications they submitted.  Please see the attached pictures and visit for more information on the LPS Foundation.  They truly do wonderful work for our school district and their students.

·       Mrs. Molnar applied for and received a grant for a handwriting station for our preschool students.

·       Dr. Clay, our school psychologist, applied for and received a grant for i-Ready reading licenses for grade 4.

·       Mrs. Burns, grade 2 teacher, applied for and received a grant for flexible seating for her classroom.

To promote school spirit, and because it is super Yummy, PTA will have periodic Popcorn SNACK DAYS.  See attached note as PTA is requesting pre-payment this year if you want your child to participate.
