Good morning Roosevelt Families,

Report cards went home on Friday and you should have received an email from the school district explaining the changes to the report cards.  If you have any questions about your child's progress please contact their teacher.

Occasionally I look back at my old report cards.  Some of the information my teachers wrote years ago still holds true, while sometimes I can't recall the student they are referring to.  However as a parent and as a principal, the skills about a child's behavior, attitude, teamwork and work ethic continue to be the area of the report card I value most.

In some subjects, it took me several years to become confident and proficient.  In other subjects, I captured the concepts right away.  Children today are no different.  We all learn at a different pace and often our interests and innate skills lead us to success more quickly in some areas than in others.  A solid academic education is priceless, yet how I behaved, treated others, and my work habits were always the areas my parents valued the most.  Mrs. Green and myself were no different with our own children during their elementary years.  Citizenship matters!  There is time to grow into that future nurse, teacher, engineer, IT programmer, construction worker, salesman, etc.  However, everyday is an opportunity to become a better version of yourself.  I look forward to our Roosevelt Tigers continued effort towards approaching and meeting their grade level standards.

Keep up the good work in i-Ready usage. Stay tuned for a holiday vacation reading challenge featuring i-Ready and RAZ KIDS.

Thank you for your continued support of our Livonia Goodfellows' toy collection that runs through December 18, 2017. The Livonia Goodfellows, Inc. is a non-profit organization that provides Christmas gifts for children of need in our community. Please send a new, unwrapped toy to school by Monday, December 18th if you would like to donate a toy. The toys will be distributed to less fortunate children of the community by Christmas.  Your support is greatly appreciated!

An annual tradition that takes place at Roosevelt is the PTA SWEETS FOR STAFF.  Please see attached note.  We thank you for the yummy treats and additional calories.
