Good morning Roosevelt community,

I hope this email finds you and your family well.  Summer is moving along and preparations are underway for the start of the school year.  Over the next several weeks you will receive many correspondences from my office about the upcoming school year.   The flow of information from the school and your child's teacher may at first feel overwhelming.  However, once the school year gets underway you can expect about one email from my office per week and the vital information from your child's teacher will seem second nature.

SLEEP IS IMPORTANT

Getting back in the swing of things for school can be challenging.  One of the biggest challenges is reprogramming our sleep patterns.  Not getting enough quality sleep at night is one of the first questions I ask parents about their child if he/she is struggling at school.  Take a look at this link from Detroit Public Television about the importance of sleep.  PBS Articles on Sleep

WEBSITE

Over the next several weeks the Roosevelt website will continue to be updated for the upcoming school year.  Please visit  http://roosevelt.livoniapublicschools.org to find information about school dates, school supplies, important Parent Connect information, and many other useful pieces of information.

REGISTRATION FOR THE 2017-18 SCHOOL YEAR

Do you have any new neighbors with school age children that moved in this summer?

·      If so have them visit http://www.livoniapublicschools.org/parents/registration so they can make sure their child(ren) are registered and ready for school.

WEEK OF AUGUST 21

·      School Office Opens:  Welcome to Mrs. Pac who will be Roosevelt's new school secretary.  Replacing the legendary Mrs. Sanabria is no easy task, but I believe you will find Mrs. Pac caring, organized, and very enthusiastic to serve the Roosevelt Community.   Welcome Mrs. Pac!

·      Kindergarten assessments on August 23.  A separate email was sent out to incoming Kindergarten parents from our kindergarten teachers.

·      Building tour for new families on August 23 at 5:30 p.m. and August 24 at 10:00 a.m. Tours run about 30 minutes and reservations are not needed.

TUESDAY AUGUST 22: BOUNCE BACK TO SCHOOL

If you are in town next week join the community at Riley Upper Elementary School for welcome back to school activities.  This Livonia Public tradition is a popular way for families to reconnect and get excited about the upcoming school year.  More details can be found at Bounce Back To School.

Have a wonderful week and much more information to come in the following weeks!
