My name is Mr. William R. Green II. The 2015-2016 school year was my first year as principal of Roosevelt Elementary School. Prior to that I spent 10 years as principal at Garfield Elementary School. Prior to earning my trust to work with the Roosevelt staff and most importantly your children, you should know who will be serving your children on a daily basis.
Mrs. Green and I have three wonderful children. They are all products of Livonia Public Schools. This upcoming fall will find Luke starting his sophomore year in college, Jackie beginning her senior year in high school and Drew will be starting his sophomore year in high school. Margaret and I both grew up in Livonia and are proud alumni of the Livonia Public Schools' school system. My wife, father, mother and niece are all either current or former educators. I reside in the city of Livonia as do a majority of my family members. It goes without saying I am deeply invested in our community and care deeply about it continuing to be a great place to raise children. Our family enjoys traveling to the west side of our beautiful state and also participating in a variety of recreational activities with golfing as our family favorite.
My undergraduate work in teaching was completed at Madonna University with a major in History. A few years later I completed my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership at Wayne State University. Since that time I have taken many additional college classes, participated in a variety of leadership workshops, and continue to work on my craft by teaching a class at Madonna University. This will be my twenty-second year with the Livonia Public Schools. I have served as a third, fifth, and sixth grade teacher. In addition, I served for two years as a teacher leader and as mentioned above principal of Garfield Elementary School.
I am employed by the Livonia Public Schools and that is my job. However, my purpose while working is to serve. First and foremost I am here to serve your child and ensure they have a successful early learning experience. This can't be accomplished alone but rather by a powerful partnership between our community, staff, and students. Relationships matter! Please note this letter just attempts to give you a bit of background on me, but make no mistake, our relationships will be developed and deepened by our many interactions with one another. The climate and culture we create together at Roosevelt will make our school be the place where families will want their children to start their educational journey!
We accomplished much during the 2015-2016 school year and I look forward in partnership with the Roosevelt community to make the 2016-2017 school year a year of success for all. Thank you for allowing me to serve as Roosevelt's principal.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any concerns, questions, or comments. I encourage you to visit our website as it contains much information about Roosevelt Elementary School and the Livonia Public Schools' school district.
